Video Lecture - Oral Torah and the Secrets of Metatron

Join us as we delve deep into the Oral Torah and the Secrets of Metatron.  We answer the question: Who is Metatron?  We will see that the answer is explained by exploring the Oral Torah.  We will present a wide variety of classical texts from the Mishnah and Talmud that will develop the identity of Metatron.  In particular we will focus on the relationship between Metatron and God, and Metatron and Torah, and Metatron and Human beings.

A key feature of this video lecture is the presentation of the Six Orders of the Mishnah.  We explain the pronunciation and meaning of each Order, and describe its contents.  Several mishnayot are presented in Hebrew.  We also present much material from esoteric tractates such as Sefer Yetzirah, Hekhalot Rabbati, and Shi'ur Qomah, as well as the Zohar.

Reading any of the teachings of the sages is like reading them all. Understanding any little bits of Torah wisdom is like understanding them all. But you can't fully appreciate the ramifications of each little bit of Torah wisdom unless you have first become familiar with the full spectrum of Torah literature.

The Torah, TaNaK, Mishnah, Talmud, Midrash, Zohar, etc... are all interconnected in this way.  Fractal geometry is the easiest way to understand how to read and study Torah literature.

Tikkunei haZohar

Tikkunei haZohar - will anyone be translating it soon?  I pray that this will be done with as much loving grace as professor Matt's translation.  Perhaps professor Matt will have enough wind in his sails to translate the Tikkunim some day.

There are two Zohars: Zohar haQadosh (The Holy Zohar), focusing on the Parashiot sections of the Torah; and the Tikkunei haZohar (Rectifications of the Zohar), focusing on the esoteric interpretations of the 1st verse of Genesis, Beresheet. 

Why are there two Zohars?  Well, why are there two Talmuds?  Talmud Bavli and Talmud Yerushalmi.  This has to do with polarity principles, laws of the dynamics of spiritual energy, around which our physical reality is structured.

The secret of the two Zohars relates to the two spellings of the name Metatron.  Most are familiar with the 6-letter spelling - MTTRON.  But there is also a 7-letter spelling MYTTRON.  This is found in Hekhalot literature, but the significance of the two spellings was first revealed by Rabbi Moshe Cordovero in Pardes Rimonim, Gate 14 on the Four Worlds.  MTTRON is in Malkut, while MYTTRON is in Keter.

This is why there are two Zohars and two Talmuds.  MTTRON is the intelligence which creates the code structure of Zohar haQadosh and Talmud Bavli, while MYTTRON is the intelligence which creates the code structure of Tikkunei haZohar and Talmud Yerushalmi. 

This understanding reveals the secrets of many other pairs in Torah tradition: two Keruvim over the Ark, two tefillin boxes, two tablets of the law,  written & orah Torah, positive & negative commandments, this world & the world to come, Moses & Aaron, 1st & 2nd temples, Tree of Life & Tree of Knowledge, and perhaps most importantly for this discussion of the Zohar: the Shekhinah (Divine Presence) & haQadosh Baruch Hu (The Blessed Holy One) - the masculine & feminine personifications of divine energy - the Zohar aims to not only tell their romance story, but activate the energy of their romantic coupling in the mind of its readers.

The question is: if Zohar haQadosh is Shekhinah, and Tikkunei haZohar is haQadosh Baruch Hu, will the two Zohars be brought together in holy union, thereby completing the English translation of their love story?  Or will Shekhinah be waiting with no one to satisfy her longing?

Some highlights:

• There are 304,805 letters in a Torah Scroll.
• Each page has 42 lines.
• The Torah Scroll must be written by a specially trained pious scribe called a sofer.
• It takes about a year to write an entire Torah Scroll.
• Even a single missing or misshapen letter invalidates the entire Sefer Torah. [!!!]
 

The Talmud on the Creation of the World with the Letters Yod and Heh

"R. Judah the patriarch asked R. Ammi: What is the meaning of the verse, 'Trust ye in the Lord for ever; for in Yah the Lord is an everlasting rock?' He replied: It implies that if one puts his trust in the Holy One, blessed be He, behold He is unto him as a refuge in this world and in the world to come. This, retorted the other, was my difficulty: why does the verse say 'in Yah' and not 'Yah?' The reason is as was expounded by R. Judah ben R. Ila'i: Yah, he said, refers to the two worlds which the Holy One, blessed be He, created, one with the letter heh and the other with the letter yod. Yet I do not know whether the future world was created with the yod and this world with the heh or this world with the yod and the future world with the heh; but since it is written, 'These are the generations of the heaven and of the earth when they were created' read not 'be-hibare'am' 'when they were created', but 'be-he bera'am', 'He created them with the heh'; hence I may say that this world was created with the heh and the future world with the yod."
